New films!

Two more updates on the Edu Productions page: another Pakistani Noor Jehan film called Neend (1959) and a Hindi film called Milan Ki Raat (1967) starring Sanjay Khan and Sharmila Tagore. There are links to download the dvd version of each, or if you prefer, also to watch them on YouTube. Many many thanks due again to Tom, Muz and Pacifist for their hard work and devotion! Here is a Helen song from Milan Ki Raat which I love:

As for me—I’m not dead, I’m resting! A number of people have been emailing or messaging me out of concern for my well-being and asking about my prolonged absence from here, which warms the cockles of my black, sticky heart of tar. I don’t plan to stop blogging, but I am equally unsure when the desire to take it up again will strike. Since I left off my regular posting I have gained a third dog named Bandit, lost 30 pounds! (13.5 kg) that I didn’t need to be carrying around, improved my knitting skills, seen old friends at a college reunion, and planned my next trip to India (hooray!!!!).

whatimdoing

Family and job have kept me busy too, and I have just not had the time or energy to watch many films and then write them up, although I recently watched the epic Rajput (1982) with my bahen Suhan and had a lot to say about it. So you never know.

In the meantime, enjoy these two new additions to the Edu Productions catalog and let the team feel the love!

  1. Hi,
Family, friends, job do come first.
We do miss you and how! Your depth in writing a review is very phenomenal, interesting, plus your honest opinions show. You have way with words and the screen images with your comments are par excellence.
Hope your desire to write strikes fast and love to Bandit…what a name!

Best Wishes in everything you do.

  2. we miss you!

  3. if u are anytime in jaipur during your india visit i would like to meet you.

  4. So sweet of you to return bearing moives. :-) Tom’s magic is tempting me to rewatch “Milan Ki Raat” but the clear video and audio would probably give me more to hate in the movie. :-(

Glad to hear life is keeping you busy. Enjoy – we can wait. :-)

  5. Feels great to see your few words :) Hope you didn’t loose more after we met in May. :( Have a wonderful trip in India.

  6. Please please Memsaab, do write about Rajput! I watched it for the first time few weeks back, EPIC indeed and so much HOTness, how can you not write about it?
Don’t you think tomorrow being July 18th deserves a post about RK?

  7. You do your thing darlin’, we’ll wait till inspiration strikes :-) It was a hoot, as always, watching ‘Rajput’ with you. I reckon its fans won’t know what hit them IF you finally wrote about it!

Many thanks to the Edu Productions team for the new films.

  8. Good to hear from you. Looking forward to your write up on Rajput.

    How are you ?

    Prakash

  10. Missing your funny and deep, thoughtful reviews…hope to see you back soon Greta.

  11. No Blog on Boliwood can be complete without a tribute to Pran who dominated villainhood for 5 decades. Please do one.

    • I don’t think there is anything left for me to say after the hundreds (thousands?) of tributes that have already been written. I am content that Pran’s presence is always here, in his films and in my vast admiration for him :)

  12. You are sorely missed and thank you for the update.

Bandit looks so cute and best of luck with your next India travels.

  13. Dear Memsaab,

Any plans of visiting Ahmedabad? If yes, do let us know, we would love to meet you! My daughter too is a great fan of yours, and visits your site regularly, especially during her vacations!

I am eagerly waiting for your write ups on: (of course, whenever you get the time!)

  16. Showed Bandit to wifey. She found him very impressive.
He ain’t nothing but a Hound Dog, he ain’t never caught a rabbit BUT he can be a friend of mine :)
I think you should add one ‘Gabbar’ to the stable.

  17. I don’t know you could have lost 30 lbs. You must look like Kareena Kapoor!
