A week ago or so, I left a comment over at Atul’s blog in which I mentioned my dogs. Atul responded with a question about my use of the plural, and I realized that I have never given a proper welcome here to my second third (counting Gemma) little Miss Thing. Then Salim left a comment asking about Callie and I took it to mean that the universe is telling me it’s time to give the two girls who light up my life their due.
I had to let my beloved little dog go yesterday. She was my baby, my friend, my devoted companion, the other heartbeat in our home. She was always up for anything I wanted her to do, and she brought more love and friendship and joy to my life in our eleven years together than I ever imagined possible. I miss her sweet face and gallant nature unbearably right now, but I am so fortunate to have had every single minute I spent with her.
Rest in peace, my beautiful girl.
Gemma and I wish you all the very best and lots of love and happiness in the New Year! 2010 woo-hoo! (This is as excited as we get without squirrels and food and cocktails and Shammi involved.)
Honey is a very awesome and intelligent German Shepherd in the somewhat less awesome and intelligent film Zindagi (1964). Gemma cheered her on with gusto whenever she appeared onscreen.
See? My dog really does watch Hindi movies with me!
Gemma and I are taking a short vacation (well, she is vacationing—as usual—and I’m working)…so please forgive our unresponsivness for the next few days!
There appeared unto her
A host of heavenly farishte
