Edu Productions

This page will be updated as films are completed by the Edu Productions (in honor of our favorite background dancer Edwina) team of Tom, Raja, Ava and others. Tom takes the best source video that he can find (many thanks to those who contribute their treasures) and restores it as only he can, while Raja, Ava and Pacifist do subtitles for we non-Hindi speakers. Tom puts it all together and makes the best quality dvds of Hindi films you will find! We felt we needed to fill the gaps caused by the utter indifference of the Indian dvd/vcd manufacturing industry to cinema fans, to the films themselves, and to Indian cinema’s long and wonderful history.

Tom’s instructions with the download files are very easy to follow, and he will very happily provide assistance when needed. If you run into problems, just leave a comment here and one of us will see it. He also has a YouTube channel if you would rather watch the film online, and those links are supplied as well where applicable. Enjoy, encourage, and let us know if you have movies or skills you’d like to contribute to EP!

69 Comments to “Edu Productions”

  1. thanks for putting these movies on you site.. A great idea .. :)

  2. Thanks memsaab. This is indeed a privilege.

  3. Thanks is such a small word to express gratitude!

  4. WOW! Thanks Edu Productions! I adore Ashok Kumar, and so will definitely have to watch Achhut Kanya, tonight.

  5. Thanks for these movies.I wonder whether we’ll see films from ‘friends video’ (with better quality of course)here in the future…….,….
BTW,Isn’t there a danger of some of these videos from youtube being taken down?

    • Tom knows better than anybody the insidious workings of YT…so who knows? But most of the films we have put up there are old enough to qualify as “Public Domain” and nobody in the vcd/dvd industry seems to value them much! But—I’d download them while I can ;)

  6. Mem saab ji,
Thank you very much for this new initiative.
It is a wellknown fact-unfortunately,ofcourse- that the Indian film industry simply does not bother about recording its own golden history. They have neither the will nor the common sense that their foolish inaction may destroy the history.
It is thanks to the efforts of few self sacrificing,magnanimous-hearted individuals like you,Surjit singh ji,Herminder singhji and some others that some salvation efforts are being done.
We are highly indebted to you and such great souls as mentioned and also to those who have been helping them in this efforts, and are not mentioned here by name.
I personally thank you and wish you all the strength, strong will and help-solicited/unsolicited-from like minded people.
    Thanks once again.
    -Arunkumar Deshmukh

  7. Hi Greta – I tried downloading the mumtaaz songs DVD that Tom has made and you had a post on it. I could only download 3 or 4 files. The website was freezing when i tried downloading one of the files. I will send you an email later with the precise file name. In the mean time many many thanks to Team Edu for contributing their time in making these better quality DVDs and sharing these rare gems with us.

    • Let’s just hope it’s a temporary glitch and it goes back to normal soon. If you tell me the RAR number that’s freezing up, I can try to see if the same happens for me.

  8. Sikandar now up, with subtitles! Great movie!

  9. i just really want to thank you for these movies with subtitles! great! that’s very nice of you

  10. Great job, Tom, Raja, Ava and of course, Memsaab, for putting this all together. What a great resource!

  11. Great job you guys! And more power to Edwina :)

  12. Excellent job! As usual. Congratulations, Tom and team. Please check achhut kanya on mediafire, file 10 is missing

    • Thank you very much for reporting this, Mr. Singh. I’ll keep an eye on it for a couple of days and if it doesn’t show up again, I’ll prepare a fresh RAR10 and let you know in a comment here.

  13. Tom Bhai: acchut.kanya.r10 has still not shown up. Please re-upload. TIA.

    • Hi Surjitji: Tom mentioned to me this morning that he was going to have to recreate the rar10 file. He may need to recreate all of them to keep the film intact, but he is aware of the issue. Thanks for your patience! :)

    • Mr Singh,

I’ve uploaded a fresh RAR10 and then downloaded them all to make sure they all worked. The files all downloaded and uncompressed well. Please try again now and I apologize for the inconvenience.

      Best wishes.

  14. Got it. Achhut Kanya is complete and what a beautiful print! Thanks a million Tom.

  15. Is Edwina in Aar-Paar too ? I was watching the song “Mohabbat kar lo, jee bhar lo” and there is an antara sung by a beautiful lady…Is that Edwina?

  16. Hello Memsaab, I am unable to download the Amar Jyoti DVD. Could you please check the link.

  17. Hi…since u please ask more about famous vamp kuldip kaur who passed away in 1960, from Edwina Since they both were from same time. I appreciate that. thank you

  18. Hi Mebsaab ! ws jus watching ‘baar baar dekho’ song from china town featurin SK – no doubt he looks so handsome n one of my fav song too. Could you pls find out for me the band which plays at the background n the dancers…they r simply awsome.
    Thanks- Maria

    • Without watching it I would bet that the band is Terence’s father-in-law’s, called Fats Benny. I’ll look at the song later to make sure and update this if it isn’t :)

  19. Can I make a request for a movie here?

I’ve been searching for “Soorat Aur Seerat” (1962) for quite sometime now. If you can upload it here, nothing like it.

And thanks for these wonderful contributions.

  20. Since I just did not have the time I did not know wht a wonderful job you and your team are doing here. I had been receiving updates about Edu Productions but just never had the time to check it out. By the way here is a bit of trivia with respect to Sautela Bhai featuring Guru Dutt and Pronoti Ghosh. Pronoti was Abhi Bhattacharya’s wife but from what I had seen they may have lived together for a short while, I never saw them together.

  21. Hello Tom Bhai for the Movie Shikast please check the files RAR 2 and RAR 16 according to the message they are coming up as being shown as being corrupted Files in the mediafire please re upolad them.

    Regards,

    Khalid Khan

    • I’ll check, Khalid. I’ll have to download the whole thing so it may take some time. And if I also find them to be corrupted I’ll have to create a new set or RARs for upload. I’ll let you know here and thanks for bringing it to my attention.

  22. Thanks Tom Bhai and your very welcome I hope to see what you can do for the movie shikast
in the mean time I will wait.

    Regards,

    Khalid Khan

    • Hello Khalid,

Even though the 2 RAR files say they are corrupt or other things, and that you can’t download them, they are not corrupt and I downloaded them with no trouble at all. I didn’t log in so I was being treated the same as anyone wanting the files, and both files were ‘OK’d’ by the SVF file I included. I downloaded all the RAR files and converted them to an ISO ready to burn to disc. If you can actually download the files, you shouldn’t have any further trouble making the DVD. If you can’t download them let me know and I’ll upload them somewhere else.

  23. Hello Tom I tried the best that I could in downloading those files for Shikast I am not able to I am having problems in doing so. Please as you mentioned upload them somewhere else perhaps that will work out for me.

    Regards,

    Khalid

  24. Hello Tom this is just a suggestion please don’t be upset
This web page Memsaab story is a great source for Hindi Cinema, however you should
just keep articles and songs from old classic films only.

You should upload the DVD’s on youtube to make it easier for downloading.

    Regards,

    Khalid Khan

    • YouTube reencodes everything they receive, and very poorly at that. For best quality, downloading the DVD is the only way. Yes, it’s inconvenient because we have to deal with MediaFire. If you know of a server we could use to upload and download, then please let memsaab know.

Besides, at the moment I can’t upload complete films, but as you may know if you check other films on this page, many of the films can be seen on YouTube and I hope to make this recent batch available soon.

Shikast, for example, is available on YouTube. I hope you got the RAR files for the film so you can put together your DVD. I apologize for the trouble you had, but I’m at the mercy of MediaFire.

  25. Any chance of you guys doing any of Dara Singh’s films, in particular Hercules? Or the 70s classic Rani Aur Jaani?

  26. Memsaab and Tom I found a server that you can upload the Full DVD’s on
it is called Movshare please check it out you can upload it gives you that option.

  27. Hey! Guess what? Coincidence! My Name is Edu too Enjoyed reading all the Comments here & must say that Edu Production is doing very well & thought I’d say Well Done to all concerned & especially to those who are playing a Very Active Part here Keep up the Good Work Guys! Those Commenting please go Easy on them as these Guys are Truly giving it Their All ! Love & God Bless
    Edu X

  28. Well, if not Dara, not even Rani Aur Jaani? I would totally donate something to see this one subbed.

  29. Hi Memsaab,
Lovers of old movies, like me, are very grateful for your efforts. Thanks a lot.

  30. Thankyou Memsaab and all those involved for these precious gems. Can you make DVDs of some films of Pran which are not available on You Tube?

  31. For downloading a dvd, is it necessary to upgrade MediaFire?

  32. Do you have any rare Pran films on tape you can send to us so we can work on them, Shreya?

You shouldn’t even need an account with MediaFire to download the DVDs. Get the Instructions.pdf in each link and read it first, if you haven’t done this before.

  33. i don’t have any Pran films on tape but if you ever get any of his films do make a dvd available for download.

  34. hello ! dont need to guess much i am die hard fan of shammi kapoor and researching on his life to make a biography (for my personal satisfaction). I am using interviews given by him as available in internet as source. i progressed a lot and i bet i got some treasures which may be valuable to share with. but one thing i am struggling to clarify, Shammi studied only one year in don bosco school. which class and which year exactly it was? (His different interview gives different year or class). when he completed matric 1948? can any one help?

  35. I just did a post onMujhe Jeene Do on my blog, and have given links to your You Tube channel.

  36. This is terrific stuff. Thanks memsaab & gang for all the hard work!!

  37. Just d/led and burned Milan Ki Raat – thanks again for everyone’s hard work!

  38. “filmindia” cradles ‘Filmfare’ !

Baburao Patel is responsible for ‘Filmfare’.

Mr.J.C.Jain asserted that, “Baburao Patel has been a pioneer in Film Journalism. He had complete knowledge about the Film Industry and commanded its Destiny for a long period. He was loved by his friends & dreaded by his opponents. His writings in his magazine, “filmindia” and later called “Mother India” were full of wit, humor & satire.
When I came to Bombay in 1950,and took charge of the Times of India Group of Publications,I used to see Baburao in his utter glory with film people around him, some asking for his blessings and others for his support.
It was, in fact, he who prompted me to start ‘Filmfare’ to set new trends in film journalism. I wish Baburao Patel many more years of healthy and happy life.”

Mr. J. C. Jain, was the then General Manager of The Times of India Group Publications, and later, the Publisher of the “Star & Style” magazine. Mr J.C.Jain wrote in “Mother India”,Platinum Jubilee issue, December 1979

  39. About Muhabbat Kar Lo Ji Bhar Lo from Aar Paar (1954), many females sing it, but the main one is the dancer Naazi, #59 here http://hindi-movies-songs.com/actor-photos/Actor_Photos2.html

  40. Waiting for Mauseeqar :-)

  41. Hello, and thanks for this!

Is it time for an update here? I have seen other films on YouTube besides the ones listed here.

Would love to download for example, Roti.

    Thanks again.

  42. A very good project!

  43. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work on this project. Unfortunately, I’m still getting the 404 on the new films recently added. I’m looking forward to getting these. I hope Tom is watching the comments.

    • Oh gosh, I forgot to tell him—but he does watch the comments so hopefully you’ll hear from him soon…so sorry!

    • Hello, Suzanne,
You’re right. The entire site except for their main page seems to be down. I don’t know yet if it’s temporary or permanent. I’ll decide what to do in a few days and will let you know here. It may mean reuploading them all to a different place, which will take time. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for letting us know.
      Tom
